The new Ohio Autism Awareness License Plate is now available! Ohio State residents now can show their support for persons with autism, their families and service providers with the Ohio Autism Awareness license plate.

The Autism Awareness license plate, available from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, will raise awareness of autism and in turn the issues that those with autism and their families face in Ohio.

It will also raise much needed funds for the Autism Society of Ohio to continue its work on behalf of those same persons and their families. Programs of the ASO include an information and referral service, web page, message board, informational brochure, a bi-annual conference, legislative advocacy, email updates, providing representation on a variety of statewide committees and taskforces, collaboration with other disability organizations, and promoting collaboration between autism advocacy groups in Ohio. In addition, ASO provides support to the Autism Society of America chapters currently operating in Ohio, and support and mentoring to those independent groups that would like to become chapters, especially in the underserved parts of the state. The Autism Society of America recognized the outstanding work done by ASO in naming it “Chapter of the Year” in 2004.

Finally, the autism awareness license plate provides an easy way to help support those with autism throughout Ohio.
